For a long time, China was, one might say, the cryptocurrency capital of the world, since it alone accounted for more than 70% of Bitcoin mining, but this year everything has changed: first, the Chinese authorities banned mining everywhere, and then all cryptocurrency transactions. Business owners, one way or another related to cryptocurrencies, had to move to other countries – the USA, Canada, Kazakhstan, Russia. But many can settle in El Salvador: this country has already made Bitcoin its official currency, and now the President of Salvador Nayib Armando Bukele Ortez has shown a huge mining farm that will run on volcanic energy – there is enough of it in the country.

“The coolest dictator in the world,” as Nayib Bukele calls himself on Twitter, did not disclose the details of the project. He only accompanied the video with the inscription “First steps”, next to which he placed images of the volcano, Bitcoin and the national flag of El Salvador.

The message comes a few months after Bukele announced plans to build a facility that will mine Bitcoin using geothermal energy. In June, the president said he would commission state electrical company LaGeo to run a Bitcoin mining plant operating at “very cheap, 100% clean, 100% renewable energy with zero emissions“. Apparently, things are moving towards the fact that such a farm will really soon start working in El Salvador. And, perhaps, she will not be alone.
