The coronavirus is “galloping” in Indonesia and Brazil

The Indonesian Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday that 1,128 patients with COVID-19 had died in the past 24 hours, compared to 1,180 the previous day, while 15,768 cases of SARS-CoV-2 had been confirmed.

The official pandemic of the new coronavirus in the archipelago has reached this stage with 121,141 dead out of a total of 3,908,247 recorded infections.

Since launching an immunization campaign in Indonesia, the world’s fourth most populous country with a population of about 270 million, 55.19 million people have received a vaccine for COVID-19, of which 29.40 million have received the second. The government has set a goal of vaccinating 208 million people to achieve so-called collective immunity.

Brazil: 1,064 deaths and almost 42,000 cases in 24 hours

The Brazilian Ministry of Health announced yesterday Wednesday that 1,064 patients with COVID-19 died in the previous 24 hours, compared to 1,106 the previous day, while 41,714 cases of SARS-CoV-2 were confirmed.

According to official data, the largest country in Latin America has recorded to date 571,662 deaths out of a total of 20,457,897 confirmed infections after the outbreak of the new coronavirus in its territory. It is the second heaviest death toll in the world in absolute terms, behind only the US, and the third highest number of infections in the world, behind those in the US and India.

As the vaccination of the population for COVID-19 progresses, the rolling weekly average of daily deaths has dropped to one-third of the nearly 3,000 deaths the country mourned each day when the pandemic reached its peak in April.

Mexico: Record almost 29,000 cases in 24 hours

The Mexican Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday that 940 patients had been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 24 hours and 28,953 cases of SARS-CoV-2 had been diagnosed, an unprecedented number since the outbreak of the new coronavirus pandemic in the country except multi-day infections had accumulated.

The new coronavirus pandemic has so far claimed the lives of 250,469 people out of a total of 3,152,205 infections in the state of 126 million people, according to ministry data.

However, the official death toll, the fourth heaviest in the world in absolute terms, is undoubtedly underestimated. The Mexican Ministry of Health estimated at the end of June, based on evidence of over-mortality, that the deaths were almost 60% more than those confirmed.

Israel: Nearly 7,900 cases and 24 deaths in 24 hours

The Israeli Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday that 7,870 cases of SARS-CoV-2 had been diagnosed in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 962,193.

At the same time, 24 patients with COVID-19 succumbed, with the death toll from the new coronavirus pandemic reaching 6,723 deaths by this time.

The number of so-called active cases increased to 59,218.

The number of critically ill patients also increased, reaching 600 (+21 in 24 hours).

New health protocols came into force in Israel yesterday. It is now mandatory to present a vaccination certificate for COVID-19 or a negative PCR test for SARS-CoV-2 for entry into restaurants, hotels, museums, libraries, as well as venues for sporting events or cultural events.

Germany: 8,400 cases and 22 deaths in 24 hours

The confirmed cases of SARS-CoV-2 in Germany increased by 8,400 in the previous 24 hours, reaching 3,843,775, according to data published today, Thursday, by the Robert Koch Institute, the country’s epidemiological surveillance body.

The deaths of 22 other COVID-19 patients have raised the death toll from a new coronavirus pandemic in the country to 91,943 so far, according to the same source.
