THE Nigerian writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie releases a new novel 10 years after the last one. “The count of dreams” arrives in Brazil by Companhia das Letras and will be available in bookstores from March 2025 .
The work will be released simultaneously in Brazil, the United States, England and Canada, with translation into Portuguese by Julia Romeo . The bestselling author returns to the romance genre more than a decade after the release of “Americanah” (2014) to explore the story about four women and their loves, longings and desires .
Chiamaka is a travel book writer who lives in the United States and begins to remember her past relationships and ponder her choices and regrets when finding herself alone during the pandemic. Zikora is your best friend, a lawyer who is successful in everything, but who, after being betrayed and having her heart broken, seeks help from those who thought she needed it least.
Already Omelogor is the bold and outspoken cousin of Chiamaka, a financial genius in Nigeria who begins to question how much she really knows. AND Kadiatou She takes care of Chiamaka’s home and proudly raises her daughter in the United States, but she must deal with an ordeal that threatens everything she has worked to achieve.
According to the synopsis, the new book by the author of “Let Us All Be Feminists” proposes “a powerful reflection on the choices we make and those that are made for us, on mothers and daughters and on our interconnected world”.
