Three men who attacked a resident of Omsk and forced him to transfer cryptocurrency for 84 million rubles received terms in a strict regime correctional colony.

The attackers were sentenced by a local court to sentences of six and a half and nine years.

“The court established that in July 2021, these persons, having received information that a resident of Omsk owns significant funds in cryptocurrency, arrived in the city and monitored for ten days, finding out the routes of movement and the daily routine of the victim,” they say in the Omsk prosecutor’s office

One day the attackers stopped a man on the street. They presented him with fake law enforcement IDs, put him in a car and forced him to transfer more than 84 million rubles in cryptocurrency to the wallets they needed. At the same time, another 3 million rubles in fiat currency were taken from the victim.

The court ordered the kidnappers to fully compensate the damage they caused to the victim.
