The court orders the case of a young man who died in a meeting with ex-Corinthians to be archived

The São Paulo Court ordered the closure of an investigation involving Dimas Cândido de Oliveira Filho, a former Corinthians youth athlete. The Civil Police were investigating the death of a 19-year-old girl, who died after having sexual intercourse with the player.

The decision was approved last Friday (25). The São Paulo Public Ministry requested the case be closed last Wednesday (23), based on the final police report signed by delegate Jaqueline Rose.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office concluded that there is no evidence that Dimas intended to harm the victim. “The elements in the file do not demonstrate that Dimas, through his conduct, assumed the risk of Lívia’s death”, pointed out Leonardo Dantas Costa, from the Capital Jury Prosecutor’s Office.

In a statement, Dimas’ lawyer, Tiago Lenoir, states that justice was served.

“Since the beginning of the police investigation, we have worked to search for the truth and provided all necessary support for this exhaustive investigation. After an extensive analysis of evidence, testimonies and expert reports, the Public Prosecutor’s Office recognized the absence of any evidence of an intentional crime against life. The fatality was definitively demonstrated, and the closing of the investigation was necessary for justice to be served”, says the defender in a note.

The athlete belonged to Coimbra, a club in MG, and was on loan to Corinthians at the time of the case. Currently, Dimas plays for Avaí, a club from Florianópolis, in Santa Catarina.

Remember the case

The 19-year-old died during a meeting with 18-year-old Corinthians under-20 player Dimas Cândido de Oliveira Filho. The case happened on the night of January 30th this year, in the player’s apartment, in the east zone of São Paulo. According to the girl’s father, she had a cut measuring about five centimeters in the genital region.

The player’s defense says that the sexual relationship between them was consensual.

In a statement at the police station, Dimas stated that he met the girl on social media and that they arranged to meet at his apartment. According to him, it was the first time they saw each other.

The athlete stated that they did not drink or consume any drugs and that, during the sexual act, the young woman passed out. He reportedly saw blood in her private area and called the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu), which advised him to perform a cardiac massage on the girl until the ambulance arrived.

After that, Dimas went with the rescue team to the hospital and the young woman’s family members were informed by a Samu nurse that they needed to go to the location.

At the hospital, doctors told the family that the girl had suffered three cardiorespiratory arrests and that she had lost a lot of blood, but that they had managed to stabilize her four and stop the cut. However, some time later, she suffered another arrest, which led to her death.

The girl’s father states that he spoke to the doctor, who was unable to say whether the cut she had in her vagina had been caused by friction during sexual intercourse or by some object.

In a statement, Sport Club Corinthians Paulista stated that it is aware of the events, that it awaits the investigation of the facts and that it is available to collaborate with the authorities and families.
