The district court of Florida sentenced 20-year-old Noah Michael Urban to ten years in prison for fraud using electronic communications and theft of cryptocurrencies.

In addition to the term in the federal prison, the senior district judge Harvey Schlesinger decided to confiscate the asset in the amount of about $ 4.8 million, including cryptocurrency. Urban is also obliged to pay $ 13 million as compensation for damage to the victims.

According to the prosecutor’s office, from August 2022 to March 2023, who used the pseudonyms of King Bob, Sosa, Elijah and Gustavo Fring, with accomplices, stole the cryptocurrency for at least 59 Americans. He used the SIM-Cart data substitution scheme to obtain personal data of the victims, after which he hacked their cryptocurrency accounts and stole their funds.

Then Urban was part of a hacker group that attacked companies from the United States using phishing SMS messages. The received accounting data of employees was used for an unauthorized entrance to corporate systems and theft of confidential information. The stolen data were also used to access the cryptocurrency accounts of users.

The Federal Bureau of Investigations conducted a search in the house of Urban, discovering on his computer evidence of the crimes committed. Law enforcement officers found that the Urban transferred cryptocurrencies in the amount of $ 4.8 million from the cryptocurrency accounts of the victims, and the total damage suffered by victims exceeded $ 13 million. In April, the arrested pleaded guilty.

Recently, the New York Court ordered the founder of the EminifX trading platform Eddie Alexandre to pay $ 228.5 million to reimburse losses of more than 25,000 investors who suffered from crypto-replacement.
