The crazy amount that ends up in Rome’s famous Trevi Fountain – Where does all this money go

The Trevi Fountain is one of the most popular tourist spots in the world. Mainly during the summer one sees crowds of tourists surrounding the 18th century masterpiece. Legend has it that if you follow a very specific tradition – specifically using your right hand to toss a coin over your left shoulder – then you will return to Rome at some point in your life. This tradition has continued for hundreds of years with visitors making a wish before tossing a coin into the fountain. Money is collected twice a week with signs around the fountain explaining that the change will go to charity.
