The Crown: here are the release dates (and a trailer) for the final season

After five seasons of palace intrigue ripped from the history books, the epilogue of The Crown is upon us. Netflix announced Monday that the series’ sixth and final season will be released in two parts later this year: the first on November 16 and the second on December 14.

A 50-second trailer highlights the constraints of the monarchy. The ticking of a clock accompanies the narrative voice of all three actresses who played Queen Elizabeth II. Claire Foy, who played the role mainly in the first and second seasons, says: «The crown is a symbol of stability. It’s something you are, not what you do.” Olivia Colman, who reigned in seasons three and four, continues: “A part of us is always lost. We have all made sacrifices. It’s not a choice: it’s a duty.” Then, Imelda Staunton (the current Elizabeth, who resumes the role played in the last season) asks: «But what about the life I put aside, the woman I put aside?».

The sixth and final season of The Crown will tell real events from 1997 (the year of the tragic death of Princess Diana in a car accident with her then boyfriend Dodi Al-Fayed) to 2005, when the Prince Charles He married Camilla Parker Bowles. This is familiar territory for the series creator Peter Morganwhich chronicled part of the same period in The Queenhis Oscar-winning 2006 film.

According to Netflix, the first part of the season will consist of four episodes, which «tell the birth of the relationship between Princess Diana and Dodi Al-Fayed before the devastating consequences of a fateful car race», while the final chapter, which will be released almost a month later, it will include the remaining six. In them, “Prince William tries to recover normality at Eton after the death of his mother, while the monarchy has to deal with public opinion”, we read in the official Netflix synopsis. “As we approach the golden jubilee, the Queen reflects on the future of the monarchy with the wedding of Charles and Camilla and the start of a new royal fairy tale with William and Kate.”

Among the actresses and actors who play members of the royal family we will see again Jonathan Pryce in the role of Prince Philip, Elizabeth Debicki in the role of Princess Diana, Dominic West in the role of Prince Charles, Olivia Williams as Camilla Parker Bowles, Claudia Harrison in the role of Princess Anne And Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret. They will be added to them Bertie Carvel in the role of prime minister Tony Blair, Salim Daw in the role of Mohamed Al-Fayed And Khalid Abdalla in the role of Dodi Al-Fayed.

Two groups of actors were chosen for the roles of Prince William and Prince Harry. Luther Ford will play the adult version of Harry in the second part, while Fflyn Edwards he was cast as the younger version of him in the premiere. As for Prince William, he will be played in the first tranche of episodes Rufus Kampa; after which it will take its place in the second part Ed McVeywhich we will see starring alongside Meg Bellamy in the role of Kate Middleton.

Rest assured: this winter, the Prince Harry will have several facts to verify.
