‘The Crown’ suspends production as ‘mark of respect’ for Queen Elizabeth

The producers of the historical drama of Netflix, “The Crown” are pausing production on the show’s 6th season following news of death of queen elizabeth .

“As a sign of respect, the filming of ‘The Crown’ has been suspended today. Filming will also be suspended on the day of Her Majesty The Queen’s funeral.” CNN on Friday (9).

The Emmy-winning series, created by Peter Morgan, centers on the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. Season 5, set to premiere in November, will cover the events of the monarch’s reign in the 21st century.

Morgan had already declared, on Thursday, his desire to stop recording.

“The Crown is a love letter to her and I have nothing to add for now, just silence and respect. I hope we stop filming out of respect too,” he said in a statement published by the website “Deadline”.

Imelda Staunton will take on the role of Queen Elizabeth, who was played in previous seasons by Claire Foy (seasons 1 and 2) and Olivia Colman (seasons 3 and 4).

Both Foy and Colman won Primetime Emmy Awards for their performances.

The series is expected to conclude after season 6.
