The Cynical Beautician Cristina Fogazzi and the tenfold discounts for an oversight

Stakanovista and endowed with an infallible flair for successful choices, Cristina Fogazzi from Brescia – for all The Cynical Beautician – he had to apologize to his loyal customers for misunderstanding and, consequently, for having to review the discount program for Veralab products, the beauty brand she founded.

An error in the counts impossible to sustain

We understand better what happened. The entrepreneur from Brescia, who in 7 years has created a cosmetic empire with a turnover of millions of euros, complete with a quote on Forbeshad created a loyalty point system which, once obtained after the purchase of the various products, could be accumulated by its customers (renamed “pheasants”), to then be used in the form of discounts. The value of each point was 5 cents, but for an oversight it was raised to 50 cents. At first glance it might seem like a small thing, but the figure for the company it would have meant the disbursement of a discount of 5 million euros, instead of the established 500 thousand. Too much for the young beauty brand and its staff. For this reason Cristina Fogazzi had to make a counter move that many of her fans did not like: retracing her steps and reviewing her accounts.

The explanations of Cristina Fogazzi arrive

The Cynical Beautician initially chose the newsletter route, writing down the reasons for his business choice. “After a week of calculations, we realized that our finances would not hold up”. The rules of the prize competition have therefore been modified, lowering the value of the individual points from 50 cents to 10. A second problem has arisen in the Fogazzi case. The Veralab team’s intention was to update the regulation on February 7th, at the same time explaining the changes via email. However, due to an organizational problem, the changes went online before the calendar date, precisely in the afternoon of February 4th, creating a chaos of comments among consumers, many of whom are baffled by the change in scores that took place for no apparent reason. At this point Cristina Fogazzi decided it was time to put her face on it and explain what happened in person. Thus, on February 8, the founder of Veralab has dedicated a long series of Instagram stories to the story. Apologizing for the “shit”, as she calls it. «Between the image and saving the company, I had to save the company. I swear to you, I am very sorry », he added. Remembering that her is a young company, which grew up in years of pandemic. ‘Can we stigmatize anyone? No, we are all working to a thousand per thousand ».
