The adhesions of the cast of Grey’s Anatomy and one of the protagonists of The L Word, Jennifer Beals. All in silence to help the young people of the LGBT community find their voice. April 23 is the day of Silence, born in the United States thanks to the association GLSEN to protest against discrimination and bullying against homosexuals, bisexuals, transsexuals. The initiative is aimed in particular at American school children.
“More than four out of five students Lgtb + they do not find a positive representation of themselves in school curricula, almost nine out of ten have experiences of harassment and attacks, at least a third skips school because they feel insecure and uncomfortable »wrote Jennifer Beals.
The protest incites silence for making the voices of the boys heard. After the day of silence, the day ends with the stories of the experiences of the children who aim to promote a more inclusive attitude in their schools.
Nearly 9 in 10 #LGBTQ+ students experience verbal harassment in school. On 04/23, students will participate in @GLSEN‘s #DayofSilence to show their support for LGBTQ+ students and their right to safety at school.

Suicides among young people have increased in recent years, according to data from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, but for gays and bisexuals the percentage of those who have attempted suicide is five times higher. It is a worse percentage than those of past generations. A Williams Institute research with UCLA School of Law students found that 30% of lesbians, gays and bisexuals between 18 and 25 have attempted suicide at least once in their life, is 24% for those between 34 and 41 years old, 21% for those between 52 and 59 years old.
