The death toll from Typhoon Yagi, which has caused floods and landslides in northern Vietnam, has reached 197, according to the latest figures announced today by the country’s government. At least 128 other people are missing, while more than two and a half million hectares of agricultural crops have been destroyed, according to an official tally released by the Ministry of Agriculture earlier. A previous count, which was made public yesterday, spoke of 155 dead. About 800 other people were injured. Parts of the capital Hanoi remain flooded today, while landslides continue to be reported in parts of the north. Typhoon Yagi, the strongest in Asia this year, made landfall last Saturday.
