The financial results for the first half of the year were published by the United Group, which owns the Greek Wind and NOVA, which are in the process of merging.
According to them, the two companies contributed 31% of total revenue and 26% of adjusted operating profit after leases (EBITDAal), demonstrating the important role they play in United Group’s business figures.
In particular, Wind Hellas, which was acquired by United Group at the beginning of the year, recorded revenues of 282.5 million euros and ARPU (average revenue per subscriber) of 23.5 euros.
Wind had 3.6 million subscribers at the end of June, reflecting 22% of revenue and 18% of adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization after leases (EBITDAAL), according to the financial results.
The remarkable thing about Wind is that, in terms of revenue, they are, together with Vivacom, the most important companies, while in terms of operating profits, they are the second most important.
Accordingly, NOVA presented a 3% decrease in revenue, which amounted to 118.8 million euros. The company generated 9% of consolidated revenue and 8% of United Group’s adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization after leases (EBITDAAL).
It is noted that, by the end of the year, the merger of the two companies under the NOVA brand is expected to be completed, with the company being the second largest provider of fixed and pay TV in Greece.
The sizes of United Group
Regarding the parent company, United Group, which belongs to the investment group BC Partners, in the first half of the year it showed a 39% increase in revenue (€1,267.6 million against €910.9 million) and operating profit after leases (EBITDAal) 29% (444.9 million vs. 343.9 million euros).
The increase in revenue is due to the acquisitions of Wind and Optima Telekom, with the company having a presence in Bulgaria, Greece, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Montenegro.
On the other hand, losses (before taxes) widened to €62 million vs. €7.9 million in the first half of 2021, and after-tax losses stood at €70.9 million vs. €15.7 million . euro.
In total and as reported by United Group, through its subsidiaries, 8.2 million households watch United Group channels, over 4.53 million households use broadband and telecommunications services and more than 6.96 million subscribers use services mobile phone.
