The deepening of the Greek-US defense relationship on the agenda of N. Panagiotopoulos – V. Nuland

The renewed Mutual Defense Cooperation Agreement (MDCA) Greece-US contributes to the expansion and deepening of the strategic defense partnership between the two countries. This was emphasized during the meeting that, today, Tuesday, April 5, the Minister of National Defense Nikos Panayotopoulos had with the US Deputy Secretary of State in charge of Political Affairs, Ambassador Victoria Nuland.

As announced, the meeting was also attended by the Deputy Minister of National Defense, Nikos Hardalias, the Chief of General Staff, General Konstantinos Floros and the US Ambassador to Athens, Jeffrey Payat.

The meeting also highlighted the broad cooperation between the two countries in the field of armaments and the possibilities of further strengthening it with mutually beneficial armament programs.

They discussed the developments in Ukraine, the importance of providing every possible support to the country, and the protection of its territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence.

Regarding the security situation in the Eastern Mediterranean, N. Panagiotopoulos said that Greece promotes, as a pillar of security and stability, bilateral and trilateral cooperation with countries in the wider region, condemns the revisionism, delinquent and destabilizing attitudes and supports the need for full respect for international law and the principle of good neighborliness.
