Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko said at a meeting of the “Russia is a Sports Power” forum in Perm that participants in the “Games of the Future” competition should receive their prizes in cryptocurrency.

“For the successful holding of events, including the BRICS Games and the Friendship Games, we will need the adoption of certain legislative norms, as was the case with the Olympic Games and the World Cup,” he added.

Chernyshenko said that in the case of the “Games of the Future” this may affect prize payments to the winners in cryptocurrency. This measure will help avoid sanctions consequences for athletes, he added.

Earlier, the Chairman of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market, Anatoly Aksakov, said that the Russian authorities will legalize cryptocurrencies, but will strictly control them.

According to a recent report by the National Rating Agency (NRA), the introduction of a digital ruble will result in banks losing a significant amount of fee income from payment processing.
