The fact that Microsoft is going to transform the “Explorer” in Windows 11 is no longer news, the relevant information has been floating around the Web for a long time. However, thanks to a fresh leak, more specifics became known – the Windows Central edition got the internal design layouts of the developers, which clearly show key changes.
One of the main innovations is the redesigned Explorer hat. It is being modernized by implementing a fresh look for the directory path, file search, and home button. The buttons for interacting with files (Copy, Paste, Rename, Delete, and the like) that were on it were moved down, thereby separating them from the application header.
The home screen features a feed of recommended files based on the user’s activities in the Microsoft 365 Suite (renamed Microsoft Office) programs. Close integration with branded office programs can also be traced in the side menu of information about the file, it contains the history of interaction with the document, as well as related files and correspondence (apparently, in Outlook or Teams).
A new leak confirms the previous one – this suggests that the mock-ups of the final stage of the “Explorer” are shown above. If other changes appear, they are unlikely to be too significant.
