The design of training: this is how the teaching of the future will be

What will be the teaching of the future? The question is legitimate, given that the DAD has moved the processes of digital learning accelerating a modality that from a simple “patch” for the momentary replacement of classical school learning, will in the future become an increasingly widespread and structured mode of use (so much so that someone has come to theorize the beginning of the end of school learning for how we have lived it up to now).

Of course the classical school will never cease to be present, but there is no doubt that digital learning – and related tool – will be more and more central, especially in advanced and continuous training. He is aware of it Edoardo Gironi, Founder & CEO of Learn, which deals precisely with redesigning corporate training, starting from the contents that companies already use. Contents that must be re-proposed on the basis of new learning methods, through advanced technologies and methods for digital training.

“We are witnessing a radical transformation of the model with which we are used to conceiving training: from the frontal group classroom we move on to personalized training through different tools and methods according to your needs and preferences”, Gironi explains to us about the importance of a paradigm shift: from passive students to learner modern.

This is why the Training designor to put it in the Anglo-Saxon, theInstructional Designer, a figure who takes care of sewing on students – like a dress – a tailor-made didactic, according to the characteristics of the same. “A specialist with the right skills to grasp the specific needs on a case-by-case basis and build an ad hoc learning environment, made up of didactic objects and digital tools of various types”, continues the CEO of Apprendere, who also underlines the importance of explaining how to use the tools to search for information and to grab the attention of the learner to go to the information he needs.

«Doing digital training does not mean teaching in the classroom, but putting each individual in the conditions of being able to find what they need, when and where they need it. It must be borne in mind that information and notions are now easily accessible through many sources: internet, apps, digital libraries, online libraries and film libraries, exchanges and sharing with colleagues and friends. This means that the real problem today is no longer so much what to learn, but how to get to content that is really interesting, useful and engaging in a comfortable, fast and targeted way. The ultimate goal is not to learn concepts, but to implement new behaviors according to the organizational needs of the moment ».

Central for Gironi is the empowerment of students. «No longer a passive use by the teacher, but with the students themselves who are activated – individually and interacting with each other – within an environment organized by a specialized designer, to fetch the different contents in the times and ways they prefer. We are talking about effective and targeted contents that go beyond videoconferencing: multimedia documents, applications of micro-learning And adaptive learningcompany portals, platforms where you can find relevant materials, forums where you can share your knowledge with other people by learning from others and at the same time teaching, according to your own experiences and skills “.

To learn more about the methods and models to design a truly effective digital training suitable for modern lerners, Gironi recommends the book by Crystal Kadakia and Lisa Owens Training Design: the New Digital Paradigm published by FrancoAngeli.

Why read it: The pandemic has revolutionized the way we work and learn. This book, released in its original language in June 2020, tells us about a new paradigm. A paradigm where it is the learner, the learner, who chooses methods, times and places in which to train, expand their knowledge. Just as marketing puts the Customer at the center of its sales strategies, in the same way the “new” training must focus on the learner with his learning methods and cognitive preferences. A book aimed mainly at those who work in the HR field and deal with training and organizational development and which helps to organize learning tailored to the learners.
