The developer of software for blocking Twitter and Telegram cost Rostelecom 1.81 billion rubles


It became known the amount that the Russian provider of digital services and services Rostelecom spent on the purchase of the developer of DPI systems “Rdp.ru” to block content prohibited in the country. This figure was disclosed in the annual financial report of Rostelecom, as reported by the CNews portal.

Rostelecom became interested in buying the Rdp.ru company, which specializes in the development of software and systems for managing network traffic and blocking unwanted content, a few years ago. So, in 2016, the domestic provider invested 130 million rubles in the developer through the Commit Capital venture fund, receiving in return a 15% stake in the company. Then, in early 2020, Rostelecom, through its subsidiary Bashinformsvyaz, acquired another 59.99% in RDP.ru for 1.19 billion rubles, and in the summer of the same year, the provider bought the remaining fourth part of the company for 494 million rubles. And at the moment Rostelecom is the sole owner of the developer company. The deal, which dragged on for almost five years, cost the provider a total of 1.81 billion rubles.
