The development prospects for western Greece

The president and CEO of Olympia Odos referred to the contribution of Patras-Pyrgos to the development of western Greece. Speaking at the 7th Delphi Economic Forum, Panagiotis Papanikolas noted that in the construction phase of the project in the next three years, 800 jobs will be created, the region’s GDP will increase by 6% and leverage will reach 2 billion. euros, while in the maintenance phase GDP will grow steadily by 2-3%.

Mr. Papanikolas noted that any innovations that have been implemented on the Athens-Patras road will also apply to Patras-Pyrgos, making special reference to the charging of drivers based on the kilometers they travel, a fact that he characterized as “of particular importance for the local community”. At the same time, he stated that the road will pass away from the cities, while at all junctions will be used led lamps that will be adjusted according to the brightness.
