A study conducted by AstraRicerche per Country Farms, a pet food brand with natural ingredients, which investigated how dogs coped with the lockdown and what their wishes were, and are. Research confirms that our four-legged friends enjoyed the extra pampering of the family during the long months closed at home, but who have suffered a lot from having to stay indoors, giving up their favorite activities: running, playing, sniffing.
DOGS AND LOCKDOWN
In particular, in 56% of respondents for the study (which involved 1009 people living in Italy with at least one dog at home) he realized that his dog during the lockdown realized that something different happened, 81% said the pet appreciated being able to be with his family at any time of day, and the 62% said they were certain that their dog’s desire would be to have the owner always at home: all this, however, together with a lot more space.
THE NEED FOR SPACE
Two thirds of dogs in Italy live in the city and 25% in a small town, therefore, the opportunities to go out – considering that many parks were also closed for them during the lockdown – have been extremely reduced. The result? In some cases (31% for the study) i dogs proved more agitated and nervous and they often have anyway resented the lack of long walks, which are one of their favorite activities. The owners surveyed for the research agree that spending time in a natural environment can have important positive implications on both the mental and physical well-being of your pet: it is a way to let him vent, entertain, but also stimulate his sensory abilities. The sense of smell first of all: exploring nature by smelling it, in fact, is one of the favorite pastimes of dogs (indicated in 82% of cases), and in particular the smell of cut grass it is the one that they prefer most (43% of cases) and that they would like to smell every day, (it is the same one that Country Farms has inserted in an air freshener for dogs, Gocce di Campagna).

To make up for this lack, the owners said they had not only pampered their pets much more but also, in general, to have paid more attention to other important moments of their day, starting withsupply, recognizing that eating healthily, even for dogs, is essential for physical fitness, (60%) to prevent disease (48%) and ultimately to ensure their happiness (51%) and mental well-being (50%).
