Electrophoretic display technology company E Ink Holdings has announced a new product – E Ink Kaleido Plus or New Kaleido.
The first generation Kaleido display was introduced in the second quarter of 2020. It is capable of displaying 16 levels of gray and 4096 colors, which is enough for displaying charts, graphs, maps, advertising and other images. As with the monochrome E Ink ePaper screens, the crisp text and detailed graphics on the Kaleido display are clearly visible in direct sunlight.

In Kaleido Plus, the distance between the printed color filters and the monochrome ink layer is reduced, resulting in brighter colors. In addition, the backlighting has been improved, which also has a positive effect on image saturation compared to the previous generation. Finally, the diagonal size has been increased from 6 to 7.8 inches. In addition, there is the possibility of producing screens and larger sizes.
The new display has already been chosen for their devices by such E Ink partners as PocketBook (InkPad Color device) and Onyx (BOOX Nova3 Color device).
