The ECB bought net assets worth € 17 billion last week compared to € 20.16 billion previously

The European Central Bank announced on Monday that it bought net assets for 17,009 million euros last week as part of its quantitative easing program, compared with 20,165 million euros the previous week, as reported Reuters.

“The ECB bought 16,290 million euros net of bonds from the Pandemic Emergency Purchase Program (PEPP) in the week ending April 16 compared to 17,073 million euros the week before.”

“The ECB sold € 60 million net of assets in the asset-backed securities purchase program in the week ending April 16 compared to € 126 million the week before.”

“The ECB sold 1,097 million euros net of assets in the covered bond purchase program 3 in the week to April 16 versus sales of 156 million euros a week earlier.”

“The ECB bought corporate bonds worth 1,402 million euros in the week to April 16 compared to 1,577 million euros the week before.”

“The ECB bought 474 million euros net of assets in the public sector purchase (QE) program in the week to April 16 compared to 1,545 million euros the previous week.”

Market reaction

The EUR / USD pair did not show an immediate reaction to these figures and was last seen gaining 0.33% on the day at 1.2022.
