The editorial by Simone Marchetti: let’s talk about work

**This entry is posted on number 28-29 of Vanity Fair on newsstands until 15 July 2025 **

The work in Italy is an urgency that requires great attention. In this regard, on social media we read everything: indignation, claims, battles, request for rights from the new generations and complaints of those who claim that the latter have no desire to struggle. The paradox, then, is that in the face of so much discussion, the recent referendum dedicated to work has been practically ignored.

With this number of Vanity Fair We wanted to start a editorial and popular path dedicated to the world of work in Italyto its contradictions, to its fragility but also to its potential. It will be a very long complex journey that will lead us in 2026 to face events and projects that at the moment I cannot yet reveal you.

We will go into the policies dedicated to youth employment, we will deal with the new craftsmanship Italian at all levels and we will join public and private institutions to clarify, find funds, promote laws to understand how to contribute to a necessary change.

You can find the first step in the next pages: A reportage with some virtuous examples
of young entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs who have chosen to stay in our country to make a dream or more simply an ambitious project. We chose them with Cristina Fogazzi And Veralaba company that this year celebrates its ten years of activity.

With all of them, we tried to think about what What does it mean doing business todaywhat are the bureaucratic and market obstacles to face, how and why social media can be necessary (or not) and above all because we have to go back to talking about the culture of the product, rather than that of media success.

These stories, these stories are only the prelude to a long journey that will lead us to an important publication that we will do with Banca Ifis (and which will be attached to Vanity Fair in September), to a live debate During the next edition of our Festival (Vanity Fair Stories at the end of November) and to other surprises that we will announce you soon.

It is our contribution to a theme, the work, which remains one of the most important pillars to determine a positive change throughout our country.
