Many gamers consider The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim the best role-playing game in history – with a well-developed storyline, a huge open world and exciting tasks, it captivates from the first seconds and right up to the “credits”. But in fact, the army of fans of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is also rather big, because at one time the game made an even bigger breakthrough than Skyrim. The cult RPG also boasts an incredible story, tons of guilds, cool fights and a sea of all kinds of creatures, but, of course, the engine has been insanely outdated since its launch in 2006. And this problem was solved in 2012 by the developers from the TESRenewal team, who have been porting Oblivion to the Skyrim engine for more than ten years.
And yesterday, January 15, the development team released a fresh trailer for the mod called Skyblivion, officially announcing that the long-term construction should get to the release in 2025. This is a huge breakthrough, because the modification, although it has been in development for more than a decade, but enthusiastic developers have not dared to name even approximate dates before – too ambitious a project and too few resources. Now, apparently, the team has reached the finish line, saying that the release in 2025 is indicated with a margin. In fact, the developers can get the job done earlier, so Skyblivion might be playable as early as next year.
Fans who have been waiting for the release of Skyblivion since 2012 have received the news with incredible enthusiasm and joy – the ratio of likes to dislikes on the latest trailer is simply insane. Many gamers in the comments write that they are overwhelmed with feelings of nostalgia in anticipation of the opportunity to walk around familiar locations again, only in an updated form. And they can be understood – in the trailer, the developers showed updated locations, characters and monsters, which now look no worse than in modern AAA releases. In addition, the authors of the project promise new story events and, probably, by the time the new content is launched, there will be even more.

However, the developers again remind you of the rather important requirements for running Skyblivion. This modification is absolutely free (at least for the first time), but gamers will need licensed versions of Oblivion and Skyrim – without them, the mod will not work, according to the team of authors of the project. Moreover, the fourth numbered part is also required to own all the additions. However, both games are now sold on Steam in the “Edition of the Year” format with all the DLC, so there should be no problems with access to the license.
