The elegance of leather (and made in Italy)

A small wardrobe of garments and accessories made of genuine leather and hand-sewn by master craftsmen: a dream for fashion lovers that has become reality with the capsule collection Twenty21, the collection designed by Simone Guidarelli for Tuscan leather.

A selection of pieces able to combine the excellence of the tanneries of Tuscan consortium to the tradition and creativity of Italian style: this is the heart of the project presented yesterday in Milan.

Twenty21, which stands for 2021, is the first capsule of Tuscan leather, but it is also the first real step of the Consortium, leader in quality leather, in the world of wearable fashion.

But, let’s start from the beginning.

AN ODE TO LEATHER AND TUSCAN CRAFTSMANSHIP
The absolute protagonists of this project are, without any doubt, the leathers of which the brand Tuscan leather is a worldwide spokesperson. A brand ambassador of excellent raw materials that are produced throughout Italy, in particular those processed in the province of Pisa, between San Miniato and Santa Croce, which represents 95% of Italian production and 80% of that European.

It starts from here, from this material usually destined for the manufacture of soles for footwear, which unexpectedly becomes a “fabric” for impeccably designed clothes and accessories. And that’s where it comes in Simone Guidarelli, the creative director from the Marche region (he has signed more than seventy covers including Vanity Fair e Glamor Italy), who thought in every detail and detail each of the garments and accessories of this collection.

TWENTY21: THE CAPSULES THAT TELLS ABOUT MADE IN ITALY
From the Seventies-style trench coats for her, to the structured biker jacket for him, from the shirt dress with pleated skirt to accessories. These are just some of the items in the collection, and among these special accessories stand out such as hat boxes, glasses (also with leather frame details) and bags, including the Simo Bag. All strictly made with the Consortium’s leather.

In addition to classic leather, even one signature print designed exclusively by Simone Guidarelli for Tuscan leather: a floral fantasy in which a rooster stands proud, symbol of Florence.

And to tell about it, they also made a short film together, a fashion minifilm shot in the elegant and evocative atmospheres of the historic Villa Borsani of Varedo, which houses works by Lucio Fontana, Gio Ponti and Fausto Melotti. The end? It leaves us suspended, waiting for the next episode (which we then call capsules) …

TO YOU FOR YOU WITH THE CREATORS OF THE PROJECT
We had a chat with Antonio Quirici, President of Toscan leathera and Simone Guidarelli, to let us tell you more about this collection.

“We were able to reveal the glamorous side of leather with this capsule – explains the President – always confirming the commitment of our Consortium to support and safeguard the crucial role of companies and artisans in the rebirth of the most beautiful country in the world where everything is still possible “.

But one of the most important concepts of this product to emphasize is its sustainability: «We are part of the circular economy – continues Antonio Quirici – because our hides come directly from the waste of the food industry and all come from authorized, certified and cruelty free slaughterhouses. Then when they arrive in our tanneries they are treated exclusively with natural tannins extracted from plants such as chestnut, mimosa and quebracho. Plants that we replant every year. The waste water is then 100% purified: we have no impact on the environment ».

And the sharing of these important values of attention to the environment and to the enhancement of craftsmanship were the basis of the co-lab: “I am happy with the work done with Tuscan leather also for these reasons – Simone Guidarelli concludes – because I share values and ideas with them. L’craftsmanship, history and tradition must be supported. And sustainability and attention to the environment, then, are essential today ».
