HELLENIC PETROLEUM Group delivered today three fully equipped playgrounds in the Municipalities of Aspropyrgos, Elefsina and Ampelokipi – Menemeni.
The study, design and implementation of the Playgrounds, were made with the main concern of their accessibility and safe use, mainly by children with special needs as well as the reduction of their environmental footprint, by utilizing Renewable Energy Sources technologies.
This donation is another targeted initiative of the ELPE Group for the improvement of infrastructure in local communities, while it has been included in the National Calendar of Actions and Events for the 200th Anniversary of the Revolution and is under the auspices of the “Greece 2021” Committee. This is because the accessible playgrounds, apart from their practical character, symbolically integrate modern Greece as a progressive society, with values ​​such as respect, acceptance and the need for us all to develop together, without inequalities and exclusions. These same assumptions, moreover, recently led the HELLENIC PETROLEUM Group to the decision to expand and upgrade its support to the Hellenic Paralympic Committee, as a “Major Sponsor” for the next three years.
The three new playgrounds were designed and constructed with the strictest criteria and specifications regarding the safety requirements of the instruments, safety equipment and their installation, while all of them have received certification of compliance with the applicable standards. They promote creative and experiential play, with an emphasis on full accessibility for children with disabilities, creating spaces for interaction and play for all children, with absolute respect for diversity and disability. At the same time, during their creation, Renewable Energy Sources technologies were utilized, such as solar luminaires that eliminate the operating costs for the Municipalities, acting as a permanent reminder of the need for energy savings and utilization of modern technologies for the energy transition. The interventions that were made give new breath to the areas, as modern places of hospitality and inclusion for children and parents of the wider area of ​​each Municipality.

The new playground is located at 47 28th of October Street and was created on the site of a corresponding old facility, in an area of ​​420 sq.m. Includes 7 new instruments for children with special needs, as well as the accompanying equipment (* benches, turf, solar lights, waste bins with photovoltaic system and faucet specially designed for the disabled).

It was created in a section of an existing playground located at 108 Iroon Polytechniou Street. It has 6 modern instruments for children with special needs and all the accompanying equipment.
Playground of the Municipality of Ampelokipi – Menemeni
It was created in an unformed free space and is located at the intersection of Davaki and Eleftheriou Venizelou streets. It occupies an area of ​​300 sq.m., with 5 modern instruments for children with special needs and all the accompanying equipment.
