The FPSO “Energean Power”, which will develop Israel’s Energean fields (LSE: ENOG, TASE: אנאג), will be able to operate in the Israeli sea, with a capacity of up to 8 billion cubic meters of gas per year and being the first FPSO in history to operate in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Energean Power was transported to Israel from Sembcorp Marine Admiralty Shipyard in Singapore in two tugs. It was a journey of 5,532 nautical miles that lasted 35 days, in six seas, while passing through the Suez Canal. The authorities of the Canal also created an impressive video about the passage of Energean Power.
Energean will immediately start the connection processes with the drilling and testing operations, which include the installation of equipment parts (risers, jumpers), as well as the test operation of the gas pipeline.
Mr. Mathios Rigas, CEO of the Energean group, commented:
“I’m very pleased that FPSO ‘Energean Power’ is now in the position to operate in Israel. This is an important step in the start of natural gas production from the Karish field, which is scheduled for the third quarter of 2022. “We are moving towards the milestone of the start of production from Karish as well as the commercial development of the ‘Olympus Region’ that we have recently identified, contributing to energy security and competition in the supply of gas for the wider region”.
Energean expects the tests to last three to four months before the start of gas production, which is scheduled for the third quarter of the year.
