The European Parliament considers the EU’s response to surveillance software insufficient

In a resolution approved today, Thursday, the European Parliament criticizes the lack of continuity in his proposals for limiting it monitoring software abuse in Europe, says an EC press release. With 425 votes in favor, 108 against and 23 abstentionsthe European Parliament adopted a resolution on the lack of legislative continuity in its proposals, drawn up by MEPs after the completion of the inquiry committee’s work, and concerning the use of Pegasus and other tracking software.

Calling on the Commission to respect the relevant interinstitutional agreement, Parliament requests to take the necessary enforcement measures notes the announcement, as broadcast by APE-MPE. In the recommendation approved by MEPs, it is stated that the Commission should also to assess by the end of November whether Cyprus, Greece, Hungary, Poland and Spain meet the conditions to continue using tracking software.
