The European Parliament has approved the proposal to update the EU definitions for crimes associated with sexual abuse and exploitation of children. The new regulation sets out higher maximum penalties for various forms of abuse, the fee on the limitation of offenses, so that the victims have more time to make complaints, but also a new definition of consensus of minors who have reached the age of sexual consensus. The purpose of the proposal is to change the current legislation concerning the new technologies that produce through artificial intelligence of plausible video of sexual abuse of children and to be prosecuted, regardless of whether these offenses were committed on the internet or in the real world.
