Mauricio Kathalan’s “Comedian” – a work consisting of a true banana glued to a wall insulating film – has been reproduced by the artist several times, with the most recent version reaching the impressive $ 6.2 million at a Sotheby’s auction. A version of the eccentric work, exhibited at the Metz Pompidou Center in France since early May, was consumed by a visitor on July 12, according to a Museum announcement. However, neither the gallery nor the artist appeared to be bothered. “The security team reacted quickly and calmly,” the gallery said in its announcement.
