The far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party has invited US President-elect Donald Trump to address the European Parliament, in a letter obtained by the German news agency (DPA). Such a speech by Trump would show a “strong commitment to breathe new life” into the EU relationship. – USA, said the letter to European Parliament President Roberta Metzola, dated November 12. The AfD and other far-right parties form the Europe of Sovereign Nations (ESN) group in the European Parliament. The letter was signed by René Aust, AfD German MEP, and Polish MEP Stanisław Tiska, as ESN co-chairs. The letter was also signed by Christine Anderson, AfD MEP, member of the ESN executive committee. There has so far been no public reaction from the president of the European Parliament to the letter.
