The fastest Leica L-mount lens introduced

Zhong Yi Optics has released a full-frame Mitakon Speedmaster 50mm f / 0.95 III lens with a Leica L mount. It is now the fastest lens with this mount. In variants with Sony E, Canon RF and Nikon Z mounts, it was introduced in April 2019. Focusing and changing the aperture in this lens is done manually.

Mitakon Speedmaster 50mm f / 0.95 III lens specifications:

  • optical design – 10 elements in 7 groups, including 4 elements with ultra-low dispersion and 1 element with ultra-high refraction;

  • installation diameter of filters – 67 mm;
  • diameter – 73.3 mm;

The above data is taken from the manufacturer’s website and is the same for all lens options. Interestingly, DP Review provides slightly different data. In particular, it is argued that the optical scheme has 11 elements in 8 groups, the number of blades in the diaphragm is 9, the lens diameter is 75 mm, the length is 88 mm, and the mass is 675 g. There is no discrepancy about the price: both sites claim that the new version of the Mitakon Speedmaster 50mm f / 0.95 III costs $ 799 – the same as its predecessors.
