The US Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) has completed the procedure for verification of the co -founder of Kraken Jess Powell on charges of hacking the non -profit organization he founded. It is reported by Fortune with reference to the documents of the Ministry of Justice.
The authorities also returned the equipment that was seized during searches in the Powell house, including dozens of laptops and phones.
For the first time, the New York Times reported about the situation in July 2023. According to sources, the FBI started a case against an entrepreneur back in the fall of 2022. Representatives of the Verge Center said that Powell hacked the company’s computers, preventing access to e -mail and other messages.
The co -founder of Kraken has repeatedly denied his involvement in the alleged activity and filed a civil lawsuit against members of the Verge Board of Directors.
In Fortune, Powell expressed relief in connection with the completion of the investigation and stated that he would continue to sue the representatives of the Center for Arts.
In a recent court appeal, Powell wrote that two members of the Verge board of directors who tried to remove him did not provide key documents during the information disclosure procedure.
The co-founder of Kraken Brandon Fox also received the so-called “letter-item” from the US Ministry of Justice, which spoke about the closure of the investigation. The lawyer claims to request additional compensation for the damage caused by Powell and his companies.
Recall that in 2022, Jess Powell left the post of CEO of Kraken. He explained the departure by the desire to devote more time to work on products and “protecting the interests of the industry”.
