The US Federal Bureau of Investigation is looking for a private provider of analytics software to track crypto transactions related to illegal activities.
As part of the contract, the FBI is looking for a private provider of analytical software that can provide access to the relevant tool and ensure the integration of this software with the department’s systems. The contract with the supplier is planned to be concluded on March 25 this year.
The term of the contract is 1 year with the possibility of extension for another 4 years. In this case, the supplier will need to conduct a “live demonstration” of his tool. The software must provide tracking of “ip-clusters”, provide access to the API and warn about the detection of suspicious transactions.
The agency explains the need for such software by the popularity of cryptocurrencies among criminals. Digital assets are used for money laundering, terrorist financing and drug trafficking. At the same time, the FBI is looking for software that will cover at least 95% of the cryptocurrency market.
“We need high-quality transaction tracking analytics software that can keep up with the times and adapt to the ever-changing conditions and practices of criminals. It must support tracking of 95% of the largest cryptocurrencies in the CoinMarketCap ranking,” the request says.
Recently, the FBI launched a special unit to analyze suspicious transactions in the blockchain, which will also deal with the confiscation of digital assets.
