THE convicted murderer and fugitive Danelo Cavalcante; He was arrested after a two-week manhunt. Yesterday morning, a K-9 police dog tracked his scent in her woods Pennsylvania and so the police managed to arrest him.
Cavalcante escaped from the Chester County Jail on Aug. 31 and was found yesterday hiding under a pile of leaves and wood in the woods, Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Col. George Bivens said at a news conference.
The fugitive tried to evade capture but the K-9 officer tackled him before he could use the rifle he was carrying against the regular squad of Border Patrol and state police officers. The rifle is believed to be the same .22 Cavalcante stole during a standoff with a South Coventry Township homeowner Monday night.
“Cavalcande didn’t realize he was surrounded until the last minute,” Bivens said of the operation that ended around 1 a.m. Wednesday when a DEA aircraft spotted a heat source in the woods with a thermal camera.
