Google was rumored to have released a custom version of Android 12 on October 5, but the company unexpectedly did so a day earlier (in the US it is now October 4). Interestingly, this time the final version of the OS has not been released for Pixel smartphones – they will receive it “within the next weeks.” Apparently, the company decided to release the final Android 12 for its smartphones simultaneously with the release of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro – their premiere is expected just in mid-October or a little later.

Despite the fact that Android 12 is already officially out (its source code is published in the Android Open Source Project), ready-made devices will not receive it soon. The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will be the world’s first smartphones with Android 12 pre-installed, and according to Google itself, Samsung, OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, Tecno, Vivo and Xiaomi smartphones will receive Android 12 “later this year.”

As a reminder, Android 12 brought with it a lot of innovations, and the most important of them is a new visual design with a cross-platform design language called Material You. Also in Android 12, new widgets, an updated curtain from which you can control smart home systems, an updated Always On screen, improved auto-rotate and picture-in-picture mode, a new shutdown menu, improved performance and many security innovations.
