The first alternative Android 12 firmwares are already available for enthusiasts

Google introduced the stable version of the new Android 12 operating system a few days ago – on October 4, the source code was published in the Android Open Source Project.

Interestingly, stable Android 12 has not yet been released even for branded Pixel smartphones, which should receive it in the coming weeks. Google also promises that smartphones Samsung, OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, Tecno, Vivo and Xiaomi will receive Android 12 by the end of 2021.

However, it is not necessary to wait for the official release of the desired firmware. Since stable Android 12 is already available through the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), the first alternative firmwares based on the new OS have already been presented.

One of the first signs was a “clean” AOSP build for the Redmi K20 Pro (Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro) from the member abhishek987 of the XDA mobile developer community.

It is noted that the assembly abhishk987 is already to a large extent stable, even one of the main features of the OS is working – adjusting the Dynamic Color color themes, although this is implemented using a third-party solution, since Google has not yet opened the full code of the Monet theme system.

Another community developer, AndyYan, has created a build of Android 12 that will fit any device with Project Treble support. This is a very simple assembly, inferior to the more functional versions. Over time, additional functions may be added to it.

In any case, both solutions are aimed at enthusiasts, they can work unstable and incorrectly. You need to install such firmware only at your own peril and risk, knowing well what you are doing.
