The recent rumors regarding the Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor have been confirmed. It doesn’t really support overclocking.

This was stated in an interview by AMD’s CTO for Marketing. Thus, when installing such a CPU in the BIOS of the motherboard, it will not be possible to adjust the frequency or voltage of the processor. True, it remains possible to overclock the RAM and manipulate the frequency of Infinity Fabric.

The voltage on the processor, as it became known, is 1.35 V, but AMD is working on optimizing this figure. The company says it does not rule out the return of overclocking features for processors with 3D V-Cache in the future. Given the somewhat experimental nature of the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, AMD probably does not want to take risks, which is why overclocking is blocked.

Recall that the Ryzen 7 5800X3D will go on sale on April 20 for $450. From the point of view of normal performance at such a price, the CPU is hardly interesting, but in games AMD promises an increase of up to 15%.
