An interesting astronomical event will take place tomorrow – a total solar eclipse. It will be the only total eclipse of the Sun in 2021.

According to Roscosmos and the Moscow Planetarium, on December 4, between 08:29 and 12:36 Moscow time, there will be a total eclipse of the Sun with a maximum phase = 1.037 at 10:34 Moscow time. The total phase of the eclipse will last 1 minute 54 seconds and will be visible only on the territory of Antarctica. The apparent diameter of the moon is 1.0367 times the apparent diameter of the solar disk, so the moon will completely cover the sun. During a total eclipse, the solar corona, stars and planets located near the Sun are visible.

Partial phases of the eclipse, weather permitting, can be observed in Antarctica, parts of southern Africa, in particular in southern South Africa and Namibia, southern South America and in the southern waters of the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian oceans. Unfortunately, no phases of this eclipse will be visible from the territory of Russia.
