Confirmed case coronavirus China’s health authorities announced today, the first since February 14.
The incident, recorded in the city of Xi’an in the northwestern province of Shanxi, is the first localized outbreak since February 14 in China, although cases have often been identified among those coming to China from abroad, according to AMPE.
This case in Xi’an concerns a person working in a local hospital and is responsible for collecting test samples for the new coronavirus from quarantined people, the local health committee said.
Earlier today, ahead of the announcement of the first case of domestic transmission since February, the country’s national health authority had announced that 6 new cases had been reported in mainland China on March 17 and that they all involved people from abroad. He also clarified that the total number of cases of the new coronavirus up to that time was 90,066 and that the number of deaths from COVID-19 remained the same and amounted to 4,636.
