The flying car AirCar made the first intercity flight for this type of vehicle in history.
The 35-minute flight from Nitra to Bratislava took place on 28 June. The distance between these cities is 96 km, which, taking into account the settlements encountered, results in about 1 hour by car. To fly by car, as we can see, is almost twice as fast.
The video also captures the transformation of AirCar from its aircraft state to an automobile state. This takes about three minutes.
In its current form, the AirCar Prototype 1 is powered by a 160 hp BMW engine. There is also a parachute. The machine has already shown the ability to fly at an altitude of 2500 m at a speed of up to 190 km / h.
AirCar Prototype 2 will receive a 300 hp engine. and EASA CS-23 certificate. Such a device will be able to move in the air at a speed of up to 300 km / h with a flight range of up to 1000 km.
