His first photos from him planet Mars sent to Earth the Chinese rover that “stepped” on Saturday on the “red planet”.
The photos were released by the National Space Administration of China (CNSA). The black and white photo shows the landscape in front of the robot while the color reveals the back of the rover the Zhurong solar panels, according to bbc.com.
THE China managed to land on its surface on Saturday planet Mars the remote-controlled robot christened Zhurong, an unprecedented success for any Asian country, as reported by state media, citing the Chinese National Space Agency.
China had already attempted to send a research robot to Mars in 2011, a joint mission with Russia. After its failure, Beijing decided to continue the adventure alone.
Weighing more than 200 kg, the Zhurong is equipped with four photovoltaic panels to ensure its power supply. It will be operational for three months.
It also has cameras, radar and lasers, which will allow to study its environment and analyze the composition of Mars rocks.
The name Zhurong refers to the god of fire in Chinese mythology. The symbolism is justified by the Chinese name of Mars, Huoxing, “the planet of fire”.
