MegaFon announced that it was the first among Russian operators to make VoLTE technology available to its subscribers in international roaming.
Now MegaFon subscribers will be able to make calls from abroad using VoLTE. The service is already available in Estonia and is planned to be launched in the US, Canada, Korea, Japan and China by the end of the year.
As the operator emphasizes, Voice over LTE (VoLTE) allows you to establish a connection with a subscriber of any operator in a few seconds and provides clear sound during a conversation. The subscriber can communicate and simultaneously use the mobile Internet, for example, search for a location on the map, without interrupting the conversation with the interlocutor on the phone.
VoLTE technology became available to MegaFon subscribers in all regions of Russia in 2021. Currently, more than half of the voice traffic in the company’s network is VoLTE.
