The first SMS in history was sold for 107,000 euros

The first SMS in history, sent by the British Vodafone on 3 December 1992, sold today at auction, in the form NFT, this “non-exchangeable digital brand”, versus 107,000 euros (132,680 euros together with the commission), in an auction organized by Aguttes house in France.

According to the EIA, which cites a telegram from the French Agency, the buyer is Canadian and works in the field of new technologies. His identity was not disclosed.

From now on, however, he will be the sole owner of a digital copy of it authentic communication protocol with which this SMS was transmitted.

The SMS had been sent to Richard Jervis, a Vodafone partner. It consists of 15 characters that compose the wish “Merry Christmas».

Vodafone announced that the revenue will go to United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
