PPC publishes the Sustainable Development Report prepared based on the guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), making known all its work and the practices it follows to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the UN .
The Group’s Sustainable Development Report, received for the first time an independent external limited assurance, covering the requirements of the “Core” selection of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) model, regarding 14 key indicators of PPC and 7 key indicators, respectively for the subsidiaries of HEDNO and PPC Renewables.
At the same time, the Sustainable Development Report 2020 presents for the first time:
-the results of the calculation of greenhouse gas emissions in all Scope 1, Scope 2 but also several categories of Scope 3 that are released from the activities of PPC and its subsidiaries (Lignitiki Megalopolis, Lignitiki Melitis), but also the Scope 1 and 2 broadcasts for HEDNO, based on the internationally recognized Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol). These calculations are a very important basis for the Group to be able to further reduce its emissions in the future, through the implementation of its business plan for the country’s energy transformation, decisively contributing to the fight against climate change and the achievement of its commitments. our country, in the framework of international agreements and institutions participating in zero pollutants in 2050,
-the Materiality Analysis of Sustainable Development issues for HEDNO and PPC Renewables (for PPC the Materiality Analysis is conducted for the fifth time). Twelve thousand eighty six (12,086) participants from all stakeholder groups, identified and prioritized the Sustainable Development Issues assigned to them, along with the Group Company Administrations in order to contribute to the formation of environmental and environmental priorities. -performance based on the ESG index of the Athens Stock Exchange as well as the gradual response of the company to the recommendations of the TCFD (Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures) with the formation of relevant climate scenarios and how these may affect the operation and financial performance of the PPC Group in the future,
– progress on individual goals presented by the PPC Directorates for 2020 and the presentation of the seven SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) that contribute most to the actions and performance of the Group Companies, out of the total of seventeen SDGs set by the UN.
The Report also includes information on the important data of 2021, but also data from the new updated business plan 2022 -2026, while it also presents ESG goals set by the Company for the future, which will be expanded and developed at Group level. with a long-term perspective and will be published in the next Report.
