It is a fictional story, which could soon become reality. “First woman: Nasa’s Promise for Humanity»Is the interactive and digital graphic novel with which NASA tells the story of Callie Rodriguez, the first woman to explore the Moon. Callie is a fictional character, but it is true that the first female and black astronaut will soon set foot on the moon as part of the Artemis program, which aims to establish a long-term presence on our satellite.

Since childhood, Callie has an ambitious goal of being the first woman on the moon.

“Callie’s story shows how passion, dedication and perseverance allow us to make our dreams come true,” said NASA deputy administrator Pam Melroy. “Callie, just like me, has developed her skills, she took the learning opportunities and overcame the challenges of becoming a NASA astronaut. Its diversity is reflected today in our body of astronauts: it is important that we can see ourselves as explorers among the stars ».

In 40 pages, the comic shows NASA’s technologies to travel, land on the Moon and explore it. But the graphic novel also allows readers to interact through augmented reality, using the First Woman website or mobile devices: you can download the First Woman app for Android or iOS to explore life-sized environments and 3D objects, including NASA’s Orion spacecraft and the lunar surface.
