The former head of the WEX exchange is extradited in the USA

Poland approved the extradition of the former head of the WEX crypto -tank Dmitry Vasiliev in the USA, writes TASS.

He is accused of fraud and money laundering in a case related to the BTC-E trading platform and its operator Alexander Vinnik.

Information was confirmed by Vasilyeva lawyer Alexander Surzhin. According to him, the permission to issue was signed by the Minister of Justice of Poland. In the United States, the ex-head faces up to 25 years in prison on two accusations. Extradition may take place in the near future.

Poland also does not exclude the possibility of issuing Vasiliev to Ukraine if the corresponding request comes from it.

Recall that in the spring of 2019, Kazakhstan Vasiliev was in absentia to be suspected of fraud and put on an interstate wanted list. In July of that year he was arrested in Italy, he spent several weeks in prison.

In September 2021, the detention and arrest of the ex-head of WEX was confirmed by the district prosecutor’s office of Warsaw. In early December, Vasiliev was released, after which he arrived in the Russian Federation. Then the court did not make a final decision regarding extradition to Kazakhstan.

In May of that year, Vasiliev was detained at Zagreb airport while trying to enter Croatia.

About his last arrest in Warsaw in October 2024, Sergey Mendeleev reported CEO Exved. He said that law enforcement officers “steamed and captured” Vasiliev’s phone.
