Unlucky James Howells unsuccessfully tries to dig up a landfill in the English city of Newport in search of lost digital assets. Now he has decided to file a claim against local authorities for damages in the amount of $557 million.
“I tried everything I could for the last ten years. However, the municipal council did not meet me. So now we will meet in court,” Howells threatened.
In an open letter to the Newport City Council, Howells wrote that he not only intends to seek an injunction against all work on the landfill site, but threatens the advisory body and the municipality itself with bankruptcy from paying multimillion-dollar fines and legal costs.
The investor said he was willing to agree to a settlement if the council allowed excavation of the landfill to begin by September 18.
A year earlier, in an interview with the British media, James Howells announced plans to use two robotic dogs from the American company Boston Dynamics in the search for a computer device lost in a Newport landfill.
