The former Prime Minister of Lithuania Gendiminas Kirkilas is dead at his home

Former Prime Minister of Lithuania Gendiminas Kirkilas has passed away at the age of 72. Yesterday Saturday, he was found dead in his home, with no signs of violence, according to Lithuanian media reports citing information from the police. Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Simonite paid tribute to Kirkilas, underlining that he was a “powerful figure” who had been actively involved in the political life of the country – which is a member of the European Union and NATO – since its independence in 1991.
