The former vice-president of Gazprombank complains that his deposits have ‘disappeared’

Former Gazprombank vice-president Igor Valabuyev, who fled to Ukraine after the start of the war, told The Telegraph that all his money in Gazprombank had disappeared.

Leaving Russia, he lost all access to his cards, as Visa and Mastercard ceased to operate abroad. At the moment, he said, all his deposits were lost from his accounts, believing that this was “retaliation” for his “hypocrisy” and that he would like to see Putin hanged for what he is doing in Ukraine.

According to him, there are many dissatisfied with the Kremlin’s policy even in such “state giants” as Gazprom, although this is not seen by public opinion. “There is a well-known man at Gazprom who told me: ‘I do not understand why Putin needs Ukraine,'” Valabuev said.

He added that at the moment he has nothing, but “it is better to sleep on the street than to leave Ukraine.” At the same time, he states: “The life I had before the war no longer exists, and that really does not worry me.”

In an interview with The Insider in late April, Valabuyev said he had left Russia and was ready to join the Ukrainian militia.

“I could not stay in Russia anymore. As for my nationality, I am Ukrainian, I was born in Akhtyrka, I could not watch from the sidelines what Russia is doing in my homeland. My visit is like a repentance, I want to get rid of the Russian past. “I want to stay in Ukraine until the victory,” he said at the time, stressing that he wanted to return to Ukraine in 2014 but could not do so for family reasons.
